Mi Band 7: What we're waiting for, given Xiaomi Wearable

Mi Band 7

Certainly, the forthcoming Pixel Watch in particular is currently attracting all the attention of the wearable community, but another exciting product in this segment is likely to come onto the market soon. After all, Xiaomi occupies one of the top positions among the world’s leading manufacturers with its Mi Band series.

The Chinese technology group has added new functions to the originally pure, screen-less fitness tracker with each generation, although the innovative features have waned a bit lately. About a year after the Mi Band 6, the Mi Band 7 has the chance to do things better.

Leaks and rumors have been coming in again and again in the last few months and we want to give you a small overview of what is likely to happen in terms of equipment at this point in time.

The battery is getting bigger

What information has now appeared more and more: the battery. It should be significantly larger in the Mi Band 7 than in its predecessors. Specifically, there is talk of a power storage unit with 250 mAh, which would mean doubling the capacity of the Mi Band 6. Xiaomi wearables are already known for their above-average battery life, because one charge usually lasts for at least one and up to two weeks, depending on the intensity of use.

GPS an Bord

If the battery grows, it probably has a very specific reason. While Xiaomi has tried in the past to make the wearable more independent of the smartphone with additions such as NFC, one component has been missing so far: its own GPS module. This would enable accurate run tracking even without a smartphone in your pocket, which would noticeably increase the accuracy of monitoring the distance covered. However, GPS should also make itself felt in the price, which is why we hope that there will be a variant with and one without (the Mi Band has become successively more expensive in recent years anyway).

The display is bigger and sharper

While the first generations of the Mi Band did not have a screen at all, a display has become indispensable. It now offers both a colorful and high-resolution display of content and can be operated with touch inputs. While the exact diagonal of the screen in the Mi Band 7 is not yet entirely clear, it is said to be larger than the 1.56 inches in the Mi Band 6 and have a slightly higher resolution of 490 x 192 pixels. This suggests that the screen is getting a little wider. In addition, it should finally support an always-on mode, which would also benefit from the increased battery capacity.

Smart alarm clock

Finally, there is another feature for the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 that is haunting the web, and one does not quite understand why it has been so long in coming. Most likely based on the heart rate sensor (which is one of the earliest features of the Mi Band), with the smart wake-up enabled, the wearable is designed to wake you up from a light deep sleep phase for a certain period of time, making it easier for you to get out of bed.

Is the performance already on May 10th?

In fact, it shouldn’t be that long until the Xiaomi Mi Band 7. A recent rumor puts a May 10th showing alongside the Xiaomi 12 Ultra in play. After a launch in China, however, it could still be a few weeks before the official market launch in Europe.
