Instagram NFT |
In mid-March, Mark Zuckerberg said that NFTs would be “soon” on Instagram? Well, because it seems that Meta is finally ready for the debut of NFT on Instagram, which could take place as early as tomorrow, at least in a “pilot” version.
According to what Coindesk reports from sources still unknown, in fact, Meta would be testing the NFT implementation of different blockchains on its social photographic platform. Specifically, the possibility of publishing non-fungible tokens purchased from third-party marketplaces and belonging to the Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Flow blockchains should arrive on Instagram from Monday 9 May, although in beta for very few users.
Apparently, the pilot should concern a small group of American NFT experts, and then expand over time to other countries and to more users. It is unclear whether all four blockchains cited by Coindesk sources will be supported at first, but it is certainly possible that some of the less-used ones will be implemented later.
Coindesk also explained that the features related to NFTs will not be paid to users, who will therefore be able to post their own non-fungible tokens and share them without having to pay even a cent: this is an opposite approach to that of Twitter, which instead requires payments of small amounts for each token loaded on its platform.
According to the Financial Times, however, Instagram does not want to limit itself to being a showcase for NFTs purchased elsewhere: on the contrary, Meta has plans for minting systems and groups specifically dedicated to NFTs.
