Microsoft Preparing to resolve Xbox server glitches in the next Update

Xbox

Microsoft said it expects to fully address the recent Xbox server outage with an update in the near future. On Friday, Xbox’s support team acknowledged for the first time a server issue that prevented some console users from launching games they had purchased for four days. In a news update on Monday, Microsoft said the situation has improved significantly, but said it won’t be able to fully resolve the issue in a few days.

We have seen a significant improvement in the issue preventing users from purchasing and launching the game,” the company said. “We expect the issue will be fully resolved in the coming days as the new update rolls out

In reply to the latest Xbox update, there are a number of users claiming that they are still unable to launch purchased games. Most Xbox games require an online check before launching, according to a test by “Does It Play?”, a Twitter account dedicated to testing whether commercially released games will work without an internet connection. “And that’s not the case on PlayStation or Switch,” the account said. “Trust us, we’ve tested it.”

The account added: “If the PlayStation servers are permanently down tomorrow, basically every single-player game you own can be offline forever (provided the console is running normally and the account is connected). Only a small number of games do not allow it. Microsoft needs to revise its DRM policy.
