With the distribution of the current system versions iOS 15.5 iPadOS 15 .5 and MacOS 12.4, Apple will provide listeners and creators of podcasts with new tools that can be used, among other things, to automatically delete episodes that have already been heard.
Specifically, you’ll be able to set Apple Podcasts to only download a certain number of recent episodes, episodes within a certain time frame, or just new episodes. And if the whole download costs way too much data volume anyway, you can Also deactivate the option completely.
What is also new is that annual subscriptions can now also be taken out for paid podcasts and shows can be searched for by season. According to Apple, the upcoming “Delegated Delivery” feature will make it even easier for creators of podcasts to reach an audience with their broadcasts.
This is intended to allow both free and paid programs to be sent to podcasts via third-party providers. Partners such as RSS.com, Buzzsprout, Acast, or Omny Studio are also mentioned here. Delegated Delivery will be free and should then appear in the fall.
