According to Activision, Call of Duty 18 did not meet Expectations, while taking Cauldron in the context of World War II

Call of Duty 18

Activision Blizzard talked about Call of Duty 18: Pioneer in its recently released 2021 annual report, and commented that it fell short of expectations, “mainly due to our own execution issues.”

The annual report reads: “The game’s World War II setting didn’t resonate with the player base, and we didn’t present enough innovation in such a full-price game. We must pay attention to our work in 2022. These two questions.

The full-price game in 2022 and Call of Duty: Warzone will be spearheaded by Activision’s renowned Infinity Ward studio. We’re working on the most aggressive plan in Call of Duty history, with over three thousand people involved, and it will return to the setting of Modern Warfare, making the most successful Call of Duty game in history.”

Call of Duty is undoubtedly in trouble right now, at least a lot cooler than when Call of Duty: Warzone was hot in 2020 and early 2021. Recently, it was reported that the loss of “Call of Duty” players was as high as 50 million compared with last year, mainly due to the poor sales of “Call of Duty 18: Pioneer” and the lack of appeal of “Call of Duty: Warzone”, while “Call of Duty: It is also an important reason that the game of eating chicken in War Zone is out of breath. However, Activision is obviously more inclined to put the pot on the World War II setting of “Call of Duty 18: Pioneer”.

Now Activision Blizzard has high hopes for “Call of Duty 19: Modern Warfare 2”, and it depends on whether the biggest golden sign in COD history can shine again.
