Apple recently released a new firmware update 1.0.301 for the AirTag item tracker, which did not state at the time what upgrades were available. Today, Apple officially announced the updated content, mainly in the anti-tracking aspect of optimization.
Since its release, Apple has made several improvements to AirTags to address concerns about trackers being used for tracking. Apple announced a series of changes to tracking issues in February, with some changes rolling out with iOS 15.4 in March, while others will be rolled out later.
The 1.0.301 firmware’s changelog shows: Adjust the tracking alert sound to make it easier to find unknown AirTags.
After the firmware update, AirTag will adjust the sequence to use the loudest tone, and iOS users who receive tracking alerts can more easily find unknown AirTags.
It’s worth noting that Apple plans to make this firmware available gradually, so not everyone will find the new firmware right away. Initially, 1% of AirTag users will receive the update, 10% on May 3, 25% on May 9, and fully live on May 13.
